Shipping Costs Are Soaring! Oct 09

According to CCTV Finance, the "Global Port Tracking Report" shows that major US ports are expected to handle approximately 2.37 million imported containers in August, the highest number since 2002. In addition, the report also predicts that the total number of inbound containers in the United States this year will reach 25.9 million, which will break the 2020 record of 22 million containers. At the same time, congestion has led to a worldwide shortage of containers and a spiraling increase in shipping costs.

Relevant data shows that in the week ending September 2, the weighted average freight rate of a 40-foot container on major transoceanic routes rose further by 1.7% to US$9,987, a record high.
